Unsere Forschungsabteilung erforscht und entwickelt neuartige spektroskopische Instrumente und Methoden für die medizinische Diagnostik und die Charakterisierung physiologischer Wechselwirkungen mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf Infektionen und Sepsis. Wir charakterisieren Krankheitserreger, klären ihre Interaktion mit Medikamenten und mit dem Wirt auf und analysieren die Reaktion des Wirts. Wir integrieren marker- und zerstörungsfreie photonische Methoden in bioanalytische Chip-Systeme, um den Zeitaufwand für die Diagnose zu reduzieren und neue Erkenntnisse über die Pathogenese von Infektionen und Entzündungsprozessen zu gewinnen. Die Projekte werden in Kooperation mit dem Zentrum für Sepsiskontrolle und -versorgung am Universitätsklinikum Jena durchgeführt.
