Postdoc position
Postdoctoral fellows are highly welcome in our laboratory.
Experienced postdocs are very valuable members of a research lab. We provide outstanding state-of-the-art scientific equipment, intense scientific exchange, and possibilities to learn from a variety of experts of different fields. With the sufficient lab space, bench money, broad scientific and experimental knowledge, our modern equipment and the intense and personal interactions that we provide in our institute, the period of your postdoctoral education in our laboratory should be a productive and pleasant time.
The extensive range of methods we apply and the innovative field of cell biological research, which we represent, should furthermore ensure that a postdoc in our lab is fun and an excellent continuation of your scientific career.
Besides broad methodical training within our team, we have excellent international and national contacts to well-known research groups of the fields of membrane transport, actin cytoskeleton and cell biology of neurons.
Additionally, postdoctoral positions offer the possibility to participate in the scientific and teaching activities of the institute. The teaching opportunities required for a Habilitation can also be provided. Successful set-up of independent research lines, funding and personal resources may result in a position as independent group leader in the institute. Usually, 2 to 3 independent groups are hosted by the institute at a time.
In general, we strongly recommend applying for a postdoctoral fellowship in order to join us.
This makes you independent from a position we may or may not be able to provide at a given time. Postdoctoral fellowships are valuable honors and demonstrate that you are able to successfully apply for grant money. Of course we will be happy to extensively support your fellowship writing efforts with our own ideas and experiences. Also it is often possible to provide some financial support for interim periods.
Applicants should apply some months in advance (at any time of the year) to discuss and develop a research project, which fits your interests and knowledge, and to work out the financial aspects in case you are not responding to a formal published job offer but apply due to your interest in joining specifically us.
A good theoretical education, a high motivation and practical knowledge of standard methods are prerequisites for a successful application.
Please submit:
- a Curriculum Vitae,
- a list of publications,
- three reference addresses (we strongly prefer that letters of recommendation are sent to us by your referees directly) and
- copies of your degrees earned (school & university).
We also recommend joining us for some weeks prior to a formal application, if this is possible (e.g. for 6 to 8 weeks as a guest researcher). This is a valuable time for you and us to get to know each other.
