Signalling in Cells
Using biochemical approaches and biophysical techniques of cell biology, the signalling reactions of selected regulatory proteins are investigated in correlation with the concomitant functional pattern of cells in physiological and pathological states. We follow the idea of differential reactions of signalling proteins as the basis for multiple regulatory activities. Using the heuristic potential of this working hypothesis we aim to contribute to the perception of complex signalling reactions in cells and organisms
Research groups at JUH, or alliances JUH scientists are involved in:
- GRK 1715 Molecular Signatures of Adaptive Stress Responses
The Research Training Group aims to explore specific signalling reactions controlling the ambivalent reaction patterns of cells and organisms to noxious effects. The adaptive responses of signalling networks to defined stress stimuli are investigated in a time- and dose-resolved manner using cellular and organismic models. - FOR 1738 Heme and Heme Degradation Products
An interdisciplinary team of researchers from diverse disciplines such as neurology, intensive care medicine, molecular physiology and biophysics, biochemistry, biophotonics as well as synthetic and analytical chemistry investigates the generation of heme and heme degradation products and their alternative functions and signalling mechanisms.
