Immune-microbiota interactions in neuroimmunological diseases
The Western world is experiencing a dramatic rise in autoimmune inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. Given the stability of the genetic architecture in the population, changes in environmental factors, namely gut microbiota as a critical interface between the environment and the host, are suspected drivers of this development. This lecture will shed light on the role of host-microbiota interaction in neuroimmunological diseases and the role of the microbiome as a therapeutic target.
