Patch-Clamp Technique
The Patch-Clamp Technique allows the electrophysiological investigation of the action of ion channels or ion transporters in cell membranes. Different configurations of the basic technique can be applied, depending on the question to be answered.
For studying the action of ion channels currents flowing through a single or multiple ion channels is recorded. In dependence on the ion channel under investigation the channels activity can be modulated by membrane voltage or ligand molecules.
