Topic and question
In addition to the complex physical, psychological and psychosomatic consequences of GDR state doping, the interactions with the training conditions and power structures within the GDR competitive sports system as well as the living conditions at the time, including within the family of origin, are decisively involved in the genesis of physical and psychological stress and illnesses of former GDR competitive athletes. The state of research on this is insufficient.
Therefore, the influence of GDR competitive sports as an institution with all its conditions and frameworks on the further life of the athletes is to be investigated.
