Projects

The Research Unit "SYNABS" consists of eight scientific projects. The organizational principle of SYNABS brings together two groups of researchers: one with an expertise in autoantibody-induced disorders, the other with specific expertise in techniques that are essential to investigate synaptic dysfunction and autoimmune pathology.

Thereby we combine in this RU the largest repertoire of patient-derived autoantibodies worldwide, biopsy and autopsy specimens, and autoimmune animal models with in vitro models, electrophysiology, superresolution imaging, advanced electron microscopy, 2-photon calcium imaging, antibody engineering, B cell immunology, and high-speed biotechnological generation of human-monoclonal antibodies.
